Empowering citizens for a just and peaceful Sierra Leone.

Building bridges to tolerance and inclusion.

In 2000, while war still raged, our team created Talking Drum Studio with the bold goal of sowing the seeds of peace through community activities and innovative radio and television programs.

For two decades, we have been creating dramas, news programs, talk shows, and soap operas to spread messages of peace, unity, and reconciliation.

Radio & TV Programming

Distributed by 27 broadcasters, our radio programs open dialogue on crucial social and political issues such as food security, child welfare, land conflicts, elections, and governance. To date, Talking Drum Studio is the nationally recognized institution that delivers essential information to ordinary Sierra Leoneans.

Participatory Theater

Talking Drum Studio's participatory theater is also a hallmark of the studio's work. It garners thousands of people to watch the performances and participate in dialogues. This form of theater combines education, entertainment, and culture to spark conversations on themes such as non-violence, education, women's empowerment, and justice.

Dialogue Activities

To further link national dialogue to local contexts, we intertwine our media programming and participatory theater with community dialogue such as town hall meetings and policy dialogues.

“When you are a kid growing up, what you plant is what you’re going to reap. My values, norms, and tradition—those came from Talking Drum Studio.”

— Michael Sambola, Journalist.
